Michael is being sponsored to complete all the Wainwright walks in the Lake District. There are 214 in all. He has already completed 210 of them. The proceeds are to go to the Preston based Rwanda Group Trust. A charity that raises funds to relieve hunger for some of the worlds poorest people.
We arrived at our parking venue, Greendale, after being stuck behind two school buses and a sheep transportation vehicle that was being used on this occasion to transport hounds on the way to a hunt. The ascent began straight away. This photo is looking back to Wast water. Michael with Greendale Gill behind. A short brew break. At 1300 ft we arrive at Greendale Tarn. After leaving the tarn the ground became very boggy, no doubt in part due to the heavy rainfall of the day before. One of Michael's legs at one stage sank in to the bog, almost up to his knee. Looking back to Greendale Tarn, with Middle Fell rising up behind. Reaching the trig point on Seatallen. Three to go. Wast water with Scafell Pike left and Scafell right. On the summit of Middle Fell. The summit cairn of Middle Fell. Two to go. On the way back down. To our right is Buckbarrow, which we climbed a few weeks ago. Looking up the valley to the highest peaks in England as we return to the car. DK
