Lytham 5.5 miles Walkers Danny and Anthony

The day began drizzly but Pleasantly mild, but by the time we reached the entrance to the grounds of Lytham Hall the weather had improved. Owing to the amount of rainfall over Christmas and the New Year puddles abounded.
A couple we met at the entrance, who kindly took this picture for us, told us that they started to walk to the hall but found it impassable due to flooding and had turned back. Did we let this deter us? Not a bit. But on reaching the flood we realised why they had turned back.
As we stood there contemplating which would be the best way to proceed, a white car pulled up and a gentleman got out, none other than our friend Frank, another one of our Meanderthals. who was with his wife Emma. who was likewise wondering if it was safe to carry on.

A gentleman coming in the opposite direction warned us about another flooded section of road further on, but we managed to negotiate this one without too much difficulty.
On reaching the cafe in the hall courtyard, we fully expected to see Frank and Emma sat at a table, but as it was by that time only 11.15 perhaps they had gone for a walk. Anthony and I had a brew and bacon butties before continuing with our walk.
Coming out through the side gate, looking over to our left, where once a pub had stood, it was now a building site, not a very pleasing one to the eye either.
Arriving at the coastal promenade, the sky over St Annes and Blackpool was looking much brighter.
Anthony, looking across the estuary could make out Southport Pier. My eyes however are not good enough to see it myself. It only remained for us to walk back along the prom to the opposite end of Lytham where the car was parked and the drive home.
