Off to Africa for lunch!

In true Meanderthal style, Martin and Anthony ventured off to North Africa for a day visit to Tangiers. What an adventure it turned out to be!
Outside the ticket office in Algeciarus wait for the coach to take us to the ferry port in Terifa.

We boarded the high-speed ferry 'Maria Dolores' for the 60 minute sail to Tangiers.

Arriving in the port at Tangiers

We were offered the services of a tour guide for the day, which we happily accepted.

The main square in Tangiers

Part of the huge display of fish for sale in the fish market.

I think this stall-holder thought it was Christmas, with this very colourful display.

The entrance to the Medina

We were taken to this silk loom weaving shop. We resisted, very vehemently, their offers to sell us items.

A view of the port

Martin with Ahmed, our guide for the day. He took is to a very fine restaurant, where we lunched whilst he went for Friday prayers at the nearby mosque.

A last view of the main mosque near the port before returning on the car ferry to Terifa.
