A FULWOOD FORAY

WE'LL MEET AGAIN ! 5+ Miles

After 12 weeks the Meanderthals . well six of them, finally got together again for a walk. Socially distanced of course.

Danny took us on a wonderful walk around the "Secret" footpaths of Fulwood (and beyond).

No car sharing so after gathering at Anthony's we set of on foot to follow some of the many footpaths and trails that wound their way through the wooded valleys of the area.  I was not alone in becoming quite bewildered as to where we were. Every so often we emerged from the darkness of the trees and were astonished to find that we had, all the time , been within yards of familiar places.

Asda...CPC.... Eastway… The Guild wheel etc.

We stopped for coffee at a handy picnic bench, still maintaining our distances (Anthony had brought a flexible tape measure) and stayed for about twenty minutes as pedestrians and cyclist passed us by almost everyone giving us a cheery wave or comment. The friendliness of strangers has been one of the few benefits of Lockdown. Continuing our walk we eventually left the trees and crossed the motorway , taking to the fields to arrive at "Lady Well" where we had our lunch. Here we met two middle aged gentlemen whose father had taught several of us during our Grammar school days. We also met a lady who distinctly remembered Anthony "Telling her off" when he was her teacher many (MANY !) years ago.

Leaving the shrine we re-crossed the motorway and took to the woods again and soon arrived back at Anthony's where, sitting in his garden and still remembering our "Distances" we shared some of Martin's shandy and ate cakes that John's wife had made for his birthday earlier in the week.

All in all an excellent return to the "New Normal".

"Took my camera on the walk."

"So ."

"Took lots of shots."

"Great. Did you get some good pictures ?"

"NO !"

"NO ?"

"Yes. NO. none"

"Why not  ?"

"There was no memory card in the camera."

"Oh dear. Where was it ?"

"I left it in the laptop yesterday when I downloaded some photos."

"That was a bit silly"

"EXACTLY !"
