NOAH'S NUMBER AGAIN

 BIN 'ERE BEFORE ?

Distance - Hardly any

Walkers:- Martin John W.

So where did our slow moving duo potter today ?

Yes. You've guessed right. The car park on Moor Park opposite the Preston North End stadium.

A beautiful sunny day but very cold and as we set off there were very few people about.

The surface of the car park was covered in flattened frozen snow and to begin with  we moved with caution.

As before, we passed the old Grammar  School and set of along the arrow straight lane towards the A6 road into Preston.

A late start and our "Comfortable" pace meant that by the time reached the cafe (Takeaways only) we were ready for a "Brew".  The coffee was excellent and possibly the best cafe coffee I have had for a long time. We congratulated the charming proprietor.

We found a bench (slightly damp with thawed ice) and sat with our coffees. This was actually against the rules as socialising is not allowed, EXCERCISE ONLY.

As we left the cafe area a gentleman passed by walking fast.  It was Vernon,  a school colleague of John's and a football friend of Martin's. This, he informed us was one of his keep fit routes. The "circumnavigation " of the park was 1.7 miles and he did it three times when he came.

After a few minutes your pedantic writer reminded them that more and two people and socialising were both against the rules. We walked on !

As we reached the far side of the park someone had been feeding the pigeons. Sadly theses lovely birds are disease carriers and considered by many to be vermin.

Round the western part of the park and back towards the car park where a gentleman warned us that the path we were taking was flooded (iced) and we should take a different route.

Just before we reached the pond (lake) we crossed the Blackpool Rd. to drop down the track known (since I was a child ) as Plum Pudding Hill.

We proceeded cautiously both down and the up this slippery, frozen track as it led us eventually to Watling Street Road.

From here we walked to the corner at the old Garrison, pub. Then a right turn into Flintoff Way saw us soon back at the cars.

A short but very pleasant walk on a sharp sunny day. Lets hope all the measures being taken to defeat the virus work and we are released sooner rather than later from it's grip.

THE END

JW
