Leaving the village we dropped down onto the coastal path. We would normally have walked along the lower path, but today we could have got wet, as the occasional large waves were causing spray to splash over onto it.
Two of many information plaques set into the promenade walkway between Heysham and Morecambe, but we couldn't find one which told us were to find shelter while we had our morning brewArriving at the outskirts of Morcambe proper, an old watering hole (The Battery), now closed down, is still a landmark fore those leaving the town en route for Heysham and Overton. The weather, instead of improving has deteriorated, so we took shelter under the canopy of the Midland Hotel Cafe, while we waited for John and Martin to join us for dinner.Morcambe seems to have adopted the cormorant as it's town symbol, as there are several scattered around the Rock Jetty and Promenade. When our friends arrived, we went along the Rock Jetty, taking shelter behind the Cafe to have our dinner. After dinner John and Martin decided to walk on for a while with us.Mike with the iconic, art nouveau Midland Hotel behind him. This is the intended site for The Eden Project North, which should bring some much needed prosperity to the town.DK
