Heysham to Morcambe 5 miles +. Walkers. Anthony, Vic, Mike and Danny

Anthony and Danny, (Martin and John who will be joining us for dinner), having just got back from a holiday in Sunny Spain a few days ago, are greeted this morning by gray skies and fine drizzle. The predicted favourable weather conditions have not materialised, but we are / I am optimistic that the sky will clear before long.
Is this Plaque, (The Spirit of Heysham), a recent addition to the villages main street? None of us were sure of having seen it on previous visits to the village.
Continuing on down the narrow street of this lovely village. There are several  places of interest around the village, fore those wishing to, and having the time to explore. We however, on this occasion, will have to forego these attractions, as we have other objectives.
It's always tea time says the White Rabbit, but it wasn't today. The kiosk was closed up!
Leaving the village we dropped down onto the coastal path. We would normally have walked along the lower path, but today we could have got wet, as the occasional large waves were causing spray to splash over onto it.

Two of many information plaques set into the promenade walkway between Heysham and Morecambe, but we couldn't find one which told us were to find shelter while we had our morning brew
Arriving at the outskirts of Morcambe proper, an old watering hole (The Battery), now closed down, is still a landmark fore those leaving the town en route for Heysham and Overton.
The weather, instead of improving has deteriorated, so we took shelter under the canopy of the Midland Hotel Cafe, while we waited for John and Martin to join us for dinner.
Morcambe seems to have adopted the cormorant as it's town symbol, as there are several scattered around the Rock Jetty and Promenade.
When our friends arrived, we went along the Rock Jetty, taking shelter behind the Cafe to have our dinner. After dinner John and Martin decided to walk on for a while with us.
Mike with the iconic, art nouveau Midland Hotel behind him.
This is the intended site for The Eden Project North, which should bring some much needed prosperity to the town.

Mike approaches Eric Morcambe's statue timorously, as if expecting Eric to swing round and give him a slap.
Over recent years Eric has had the pleasure of our company on quite a few occasions, and had his photo taken with us. But this time it was suggested that we take our photo's from behind.
After a visit to the promenade loo's, John and Martin leave us and head back to John's car which is parked near the Midland Hotel.
Another of Morcambe's famous sons. The two times world heavyweight boxing champion, Tyson Fury. A very generous man and also a philosopher it would seem.
Our objective today was to walk as far as Happy Mount Park, but now that the clocks have gone back, and the nights are drawing in earlier, it was decided to cut our walk short, and catch the bus back to Heysham. When we got back to the car, the car park was as empty as when we set off, but a lady named Sue, according to her registration plate, had decided to park nose to nose with Anthony's car.😅😅
