WREA GREEN

OH DEAR WHAT'S ALL THIS THEN ? 4+miles

GREENSMEN :-  Jim C, John W, John R, Anthony.

"All This Then"  Is the fact that your gormless writer/photographer is still struggling to come to terms with using a different camera. Once again NO PHOTOGRAPHS 😒😖😟😢

No car park today as we all parked on the perimeter of Wrea Green's delightful village green. It took a few minutes to gather next to the Incredibly neat church grounds. Then off we went along the road coming from Kirkham.

After a couple of hundred metres we turned off the road and took to the fields Large fields of tall corn (Corn on the Cob)

The fields were connected by small woods the paths through which obviously saw little sunshine as they were thoroughly  wet and in places deep in glutinous mud.

The walk saw us clambering over quite a few stiles . We were convinced that the stiles we encounter are much taller and trickier than they used to be ..... or could it be that the Meanderthals are getting less and less agile and supple. NAW ! One of the stiles was so tightly encompassed with brambles that JW came away with arms badly scratched and as he takes "anti-coagulants" copious blood trickled down his arm for some time.

N.B. The above photo was taken AFTER the walk using the OLD camera.

After stopping briefly for a coffee break we soon arrived back at the Kirkham road quite close to "Ribby Hall" leisure centre. We were curious and decided to have a "Nosey"

We were all quite astonished by the extent of the place and the number of activities available. We were also impressed by the high quality of the buildings and the obviously excellent maintenance standards. The whole place was "Buzzing" with parents and children all enjoying the huge variety of activities available. Not to your writers taste as a place to visit but it would be curmudgeonly not to say "Well Done" to the owners and staff.

Leaving this impressive centre we returned to the Kirkham road and taking a right turn we followed road and footpath taking us around the edge of the very large leisure centre.

Again we found ourselves crossing fields and "Battling" mud bestrewn woodland footpaths. (More than we needed, in fact, as we lost our way at one point.)

The path took us round the edge of the 130 acre holiday site and finally back onto the Kirkham road once again.

From here we simply followed the road back into the centre of Wrea Green where we finished our flasks sitting on a circular seat surrounding  the sign announcing this was WREA GREEN.

An unusual and unexpected walk planned by Anthony. It was full of all the right ingredients. Deep mud. Stinging nettles. Cow muck, (or sheep S***) and dodgy and difficult stiles. one of which "Bit"  JW It was very tight and overgrown with brambles

But also it fair share of pleasant surprising and interesting stuff to see and explore.  WELL DONE

THE END

JW

p.s.  Your writer promises to make every effort to do a "Proper" Blog next time.
