Crosby and the Sefton Coastal Path (Anthony's pics)

The Sefton Coastal Path was chosen as the venue for this week's walk because it offered easy walking, fantastic scenery and, hopefully a cooling breeze........It didn't disappoint!
Walkers: Danny, Mike, Vic, Martin, Dave, Jim C and Anthony.
Distance: 5 miles

A short trip by car took us via Southport, past Birkdale and Formby to Hightown on Merseyside.
From Hightown we took the Merseyrail train, three stations down the line, to Waterloo. (Not to be confused with the places in London and Belgium with the same name.!)

A short amble from the station and we were on the seafront, looking across the Mersey Bar to the Wirral peninsula and the coastline and hills of north Wales.

Time for our first stop....coffee time!

The big attraction on Crosby beach are the Antony Gormley statues - 100 of them secured deep into the sand.

....just one of them!

Guess which is the statue!

This one chose to wear Vic's hat!

A new recruit to the Meanderthals!

"Don't step on it, Danny!"

An explanation of the statues

The statues all 'gaze' at an enormous wind farm, just off the coast.

On the move again...after lunch

It's a small world! On the prom we bumped into Luigi, known to Dave and a fellow 'Spanish student' of Martin, John W and Anthony!

An unusual alignment (spotted by Vic) of a row of wind turbines.

If it's there, it has be climbed, by Vic.

....almost there!

That's it! Just.....and with a helping hand!

Two young ladies show him how it should be done.
(They're far more glamorous than Vic!)

Finally, back at the cars in Hightown...
...and the essential 'bridge photo'
before consuming Martin's shandy.

Not forgetting the 'bridge' photographer!
