Borwick. More Photos

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Admittedly, it does look a bit spooky, but I find it very impressive.

The plaque above the door as we enter, reveals that it was built during the turbulent years of the civil war, and completed, the year after the execution of King Charles 1.

The bosses of the red rose on the gates, call to mind an earlier conflict.

If I owned this property, that overgrown hedge would have to go.
Or am I just being biased, because I can't get a good shot of the house?

It's a great shame, that this house is not open to the public.
It really is a gem.

Turning off the road, into a farmyard.

But not before spotting another relic from the past.

"Far from the madding crowd".

Me'thinks this would prove to much of a challenge, even for the Yorkshire Vet

Not the most picturesque venue for our a. m. brew, but no shortage of seats.

A very scenic stretch of the Lancaster canal

A very nice barn conversion.

The young lambs were taking a very keen interest in the strangers invading their territory.

Not the usual country stile. Probably plundered from a more industrial setting.

A much more pleasant spot for our p.m. brew.

And below.

All our group are seniors, but these two sprightly gents are our most senior. Well done James and John.
If I've got that wrong, I'm sure Vic will put me right.

Arriving back at Borwick.

Once again Martin provides the refreshing shandy.
