Colne More Photos

Leaving Boundry Mill, where we had parked up, we set off under a dull and cloudy sky. The rain was falling, not heavily, but it was looking like it could be in for the day, which proved to be the case, but only on and off, and not enough to spoil our enjoyment of this very interesting walk.

A view with several interesting features, but spoiled by the graffiti.

Sheltering under a road bridge, we take our late morning refreshment. Has Martin left his bait at home?

On our way again.

We'd not travelled far along the tow path before we came across
some major repair work being carried out. A section of the canal had been drained to facilitate the work. We were diverted to the other side of the canal.

A mini narrow boat.

Anyone want to buy a horse?

Over a stile and down some steep slippery steps, to a dangerous stretch of road.

Our walk didn't take us through the village. Perhaps another day?

A pleasant young lady (she wasn't cross at all), allowed us to make use of her picnic tables, for our lunch.

Back at the canal, by the entrance / exit to  the Foulridge Tunnel.

As we neared the end of our walk, we passed this Victorian (now redundant railway arch. The transition in the direction of the arch, must have caused some head scratching, but true to form those Victorian builders rose to the challenge, and turned it into an art form. It's such a shame that it hasn't been cleaned up.

Back to Boundry Mill. Is that a patch of blue sky in the distance?

A new "Walker of the week" trophy. Well done Anthony, but don't bite to hard on it.
