Whalley, Wiswell

Heading up the path from Spring Wood car park it became apparent
that we had taken the wrong path. However a well worn side path leading off in the direction we wanted to go led to a fence with the top rail broken. We obviously weren't the first ones to have made the same mistake. I assure you readers, had the fence not been broken by others, we would have turned back

We had been forewarned by our leader Anthony, that the first part of the walk was all uphill, but we were assured it was not Pendle Hill.

Below us was the 600 yds long, brick built, Victorian, railway viaduct.

A short coffee break in the weak autumn sunshine.

After passing by this quarry, the path got steeper.

Having reached the top of the aforementioned steep path, it was then downhill all the way to Wiswell, pronounced wissel by the locals.
We had our dinner in the ornamental garden.

The Freemasons in Wiswell. One of only a few Michelin Star pubs in
our fair county.

Leaving Wiswell, we descended further to the very busy A 59 duel carriageway, which we had to cross.

We were now heading for Barrow, but first had to cross the Blackburn to Clitheroe railway line.

Taking me taking you.

The hospital referred to on the blue plaque is Calderstones.

The must have bridge shot.

Eh its bin an ard day, but there's not far to go now.
