Ascent of Yewbarrow and Buckbarrow 7.5 miles. 3500 ft of ascent walkers Michael D and Danny K

                                                                        Yewbarrow

We parked on the carpark at Overbeck Bridge in Wasdale. After getting kitted up we exited by a path at the back of the carpark. The path soon splits, to the left is the path we shall return by. Following our path we immediately start the ascent.
Michael looking up to Dropping Crag.
                                                              Onwards and upwards
Looking back to the reflections on Wast Water
Fortunately we didn't have to scale Dropping Crag, but our path wasn't easy.
Leaving Dropping Crag behind, we continue our climb up to Bell Rib.
Bell Rib is the crag on the right.
                                                     Michael goes to investigate.

When Michael returns, Danny goes across. Bell Rib is the peak on the first photo, as we set off, but it is not the summit of Yewbarrow.

                                                                 This is the summit.
Only now is Danny allowed to have a brew.😅😅
Looking across to the Mosedale Fells before making our way across the ridge to Stirrup Crag, which will be our route down.
Looking back at Stirrup Crag. From here it is a two mile walk on good paths back to the car park.
We had dinner alongside the beck before going back to the car for a drive to the other end of the valley to climb Buckbarrow.
Buckbarrow.
The route chosen for our ascent of Buckbarrow was not a good choice. The path as we started climbing was quite steep, but not to difficult, as we climbed up through the ferns, but as we got higher the path got steeper and the terrain changed to loose rocks and scree, making progress very slow.
A patch of stable ground where we were able to stop for a breather.
Having reached the top, this was not the actual summit. After having a scout round we head across to the crag in the background. If you look closely you might see Michael on his way across.
The summit cairn.
A short brew stop, then we head down by a much easier route.
Back at the road, heading back to the car, there is an excellent view back to the top end of Wasdale, with from the left Lingmell, Scafell Pike and Scafell.
Another good day walking. Thanks Michael.
