Slaidburn

The Hark to Bounty pub in Slaidburn has suffered serious subsidence.
Our most senior Meanderthal, James, has decided to join us this week.
Stiles are no problem to agile James.

                                                                            Brew time.
There were some very upmarket footpath signs on this walk.
There was no sign of a cairn on Pain Hill to have a photo shot 😐, so we started our       descent 😅.

                                                     The picturesque village of Newton.
The Parkers Arms with it's unusual architectural style.
Martin. had arranged to meet us for dinner at the bridge by the river in Newton but when we got there he  was not there. John phoned him and found he wasn't far away so James and I settled down in the shade of a tree by the bridge.
It's time to move on again. Martin decides to meet us back at the car park in Slaidburn. The rest of us set off along the river.
The river Hodder wends it's way westward.

We took a diversionary route around the sewage farm back to the car park, where Martin treated us all to an ice cream cornet. Very generous Martin. Thank you. Took a wrong turn on the way back and finished up going over Easington Fell to Wadington. Drat!!
