5 Parks Walk. 7 Miles. Walkers. Anthony, Jim, Mike and Danny.

The first of our parks today was Moor Park. We met on the car park opposite PNE Footy Ground. Martin had unexpectedly turned up to see us off, and glad we were to see him. But where is Mike. Mike had sent his apologies, but said he might catch us up later. Martin also said he might meet us later. So off we set across the park, past the duck pond to the observatory.
I was about to take this photo, from a distance, but a largish man walking towards us was getting in the way so letting my camera rest, I waited patiently for him to shift. As he got nearer to us, he recognised me, it was one of my old workmates, so I was able to catch up on some others who I haven't seen since retiring.
Gone, ! The Lime Kiln. Another of Preston's historic watering holes bites the dust. More recently The Lime Kiln on Aqueduct Street was a Chinese Restaurant. The aqueduct after which the street was named is also long gone.
The lancaster Canal terminates at Aqueduct Street, but it used to carry on into the town centre, terminating near to where Corporation Street and Ringway cross each other.
Some of the residents of the houses on Shelley Road have turned their back gardens into outdoor hospitality ares for their family and friends.
Is this one a tribute to the NHS? Or an LGBTQ statement? The ripples on the water were caused by leaping fish.

The workmen are replacing the canal edging boards, filling in behind them with topsoil, then reseeding.

This macabre scene although very picturesque.....Carries a warning for trespassers.
The canal boats were dispersing the algae, but not permanently.
Park No2 Haslam Park. Not long ago the duck pond was, like the canal, covered in algae.
                                                     Time for our morning brew.
On our way again, out of Haslam Park........
..................Into Park No3 Ashton Park, with its new refurbished playground.
After passing the old mansion that once belonged to James Pedder the owner of Preston Savings Bank and now a children's nursery, we make our way to the docks.
Arriving at the docks we meet up with Martin and Mike and have our dinner together. Mike has walked all the way from his home, so it wouldn't be fair to impose any penalty points on him. After a longer than normal dinner break we say our farewells to Martin, and Mike carries on with us on our walk.
Crossing the swing bridge,to the other side of the dock.
We join The Guild Wheel cycle route here, so have to beware of cycles coming up behind
 us.

Here's Jim, telling Mike about the fish that we saw jumping on the canal.
The Continental pub is near the entrance to Park No4 Miller Park.
We walked along the riverside path on the edge of Miller Park and under the old railway bridge into Park No5 Avenham Park. Our last chance to take a bridge shot. We stopped briefly at the cafe in the park for a last drink before we make our way out of the park, through the city centre to catch the bus back to Deepdale and our cars.
Thanks for a good walk Anthony.
