'Golden October' - Kendal to Levens Bridge

The glorious autumn colours were the inspiration for this week's walk from Kendal to Levens Bridge.
Walkers: John W, Vic, Mick C, Paddy, Dave, Jim C, Danny and Anthony.
Distance: 6.5 miles.

The cars were parked up on the A6 slip road at Levens Bridge and after 'booting up' we made our way to the bus stop to take the 10:46 bus to the centre of Kendal.
Waiting for the bus we were soon joined by three others who were making their way to Windermere, via Kendal.

We were greeted in Kendal by the warm, autumnal sunshine as we made our south down the west bank of the River Kent.

It was well past our normal coffee time.....

....so these benches overlooking the river were put to good use!

We diverted from our route to admire (or disparage)
this Barbara Hepworth sculpture.

We were intrigued by these knitted pennants decorating the side of the footpath.

We stopped to admire this intriguing sculpture of a squirrel carved out of the remains of a tree trunk.

Butty time at last.

Continuing on along the riverside path towards Natland as the rain threatened.

Yes, you have guessed! The essential bridge photo, this time near Sedgwick.

One of the many spectacular gorges on the river.

Entering the final phase of our walk as we passed through
Levens Park. The deer were visible but timid and not near enough to be photographed.

Approaching the end of the walk as we emerged from the park at Levens Bridge and back to where the cars were parked.
