Fleetwood 30 July 2020

Fleetwood, once a booming fishing town is now displaying signs of dereliction. The only fishing boats to be seen today are sadly  left high and dry on the mud flats alongside the quay.😞

Not only has Fleetwood lost it's fishing industry, it has also lost,       what was until about 10 years ago a busy ferry port.

This neglected area is where the lorries would have been queueing up to drive onto the Stenna Line Ferries bound for Ireland😞

Why would they build a lighthouse so far inland from the shoreline?
All will be revealed.

                              A very touching sculpture.

Fleetwoods other Lighthouse, and an explanation for the position of                                        the first lighthouse
The YMCA swimming pool and sports centre, with the domed Marine Hall in the background. There are fears that the swimming    pool may not reopen after the Corona Virus lockdown is lifted.

One of the lakes, at the far side of which is the training lifeboat, in
which survival training is taught to people who are going to work on the rigs.

Lunch across from the coastguard lookout station at Rossall Point.
Is it leaning forward to get a better view out to sea.😄😄

Leaving the coast behind and heading into town.
Back at the cars the ever generous Martin supplied us once again       with Mini Magnums😜 and Ginger Beer. Cheers Martin.
